The quietest piece in the catalogue and the one that takes the longest to make. The motif is embroidered directly into the jersey — a single arc worked in matte polyester thread, backed with a soluble stabiliser that washes clean away so nothing scratches the skin underneath. Our Paris workshop runs it at a little over four thousand stitches, which is roughly nine minutes on the machine per garment, plus the trimming by hand. On 220 gsm combed organic cotton it sits flat and stays flat. Read from a metre away it is almost abstract. Up close, it is an oar.
The story
Row Like a Boat comes from Bogle in the early 2000s: both arms pulling back in unison, the torso answering, the whole body turned into a rowing motion the crowd could read from across the room. It is one of the clearest lessons the man left — a step does not have to be complicated to travel, it has to be legible. The embroidery says the same thing with one line.
